Soft Maple

Soft Maple is a versatile hardwood that delivers many of the clean visual characteristics associated with hard maple while offering greater ease of machining and fabrication. Its smooth, consistent grain and light, uniform color make it well suited for both painted and stained finishes, allowing flexibility across a wide range of design requirements.

Soft Maple Features & Highlights

  • Smooth grain and uniform color
  • Easier machining compared to hard maple
  • Accepts paint and stain well
  • Used in cabinetry, furniture, and interior millwork

Compared to hard maple, soft maple cuts, shapes, and sands more easily, reducing tool wear and improving efficiency in production environments.

Soft maple is commonly specified for cabinetry, furniture components, mouldings, and interior millwork where appearance and dimensional reliability are important but extreme hardness is not required. It provides a balanced combination of strength, stability, and workability, making it an excellent choice for both custom and high-volume applications.

Our soft maple lumber is carefully graded and kiln dried to ensure uniform moisture content, consistent quality, and dependable performance from initial machining through final installation.

At Classic American Hardwoods, we pride ourselves on providing a superior product matched with superior service. Our lumber is cut from the Appalachian region, with few species coming from the Southern region. Please contact us in regards to your product needs.
